Public AccessWe are open to the public.
How We Can HelpWhile we can't provide legal advice, such as interpreting a case or statute, or tell you what "the law" is on a particular subject or select a form for your use, we are happy to help you locate resources on your subject and show you generally how to use them. There is a lawyer referral service at the Norfolk and Portsmouth Bar Association (757-623-0132) that can provide you with the name of an experienced attorney that you can contact if you need legal advice and assistance.
Copier UsageCopies are 25 cents each. Two-page copying (side by side) will save you both time and money.
Internet AccessWe have computer terminals with Internet access. Keep in mind, however, that it may be quicker and easier to find what you need using books. Contrary to popular belief, it's not "all on the Internet." So be sure to tell us what you are looking for and we can help you get what you need and get it quickly.
Re-shelvingPlease re-shelve all materials that you use during your research.
Legal FormsWe can assist you in locating form books and show you how to use the index, but we cannot give advice on which form to choose or what language to insert.
Non-circulating LibraryWe are a non-circulating library. You may, however, copy pages using the photocopier.
Computer UsageOur computers are only used for legal research. You may wish to contact other local libraries if you need to use a computer for typing legal documents.
